Cartier Pasha Watches - Select Models and Review
The Pasha de Cartier collection is another example of the practical brilliance Cartier brings to the world of luxury timepieces. In this instance, the goal was to create a truly water-resistant wristwatch which could be worn by the Pasha of Marrakech while swimming.
(It’s interesting to see the evolution of Cartier’s expertise in balancing aesthetics, structure and importantly, function. The Santos de Cartier addressed the needs of an aviation pioneer. The Tank honored the Allied defenders of France. And in this case, the Pasha solved the issue of water resistance.)
Here’s what Cartier has to say about the Pasha collection on their website:
“One of Cartier's oldest collections, the Pasha de Cartier is an homage to the round forms of yesteryear. Strong and assured in nature, this collection evokes power and irresistible seduction.”
“One of the earliest truly water-resistant watch designs, the Pasha de Cartier collection evokes the historical model created during the 40's as a pure union of form and function.”
The Pasha de Cartier Watch Collection
Today, there are five different sub-collections within the larger Pasha de Cartier portfolio, the Pasha C, Pasha Seatimer, Pasha de Cartier 32MM, Pasha de Cartier 42MM and Miss Pasha.
As featured on the Cartier website, the Pasha collection includes 44 different models for both men and women. Several models are labeled as Unisex. Depending on the timepiece, there are quartz and automatic movement options to consider, along with several chronograph models.
Within this collection, timepieces can be selected from metals including steel, gold, white gold and pink gold. A number of models are set with diamonds, some quite extensively. Strap options range from bracelets and leather straps, as well as models which allow for interchangeable straps or bracelets. Several models also have rubber straps, which reinforce the historic legacy of the Pasha watch.
Models worth a look
As you begin researching Pasha de Cartier, I recommend starting with the Pasha Seatimer sub-collection. There are 14 models to choose from, ranging from a rugged “outdoorsy” look, to high-end “power” and “glamour" timepieces.
For women, the online consensus is that your investigation should begin with the Pasha C. The models in this sub-collection are definitely in a realistic price zone for a Cartier timepiece.
Where to shop
I highly suggest visiting an actual boutique before you purchase your Pasha timepiece. This will give you the best idea in terms of comfort and wear, and you cannot get the full sense of the quality of Cartier until you actually wear one.
Once you have made your mind up, then the fun starts. Online shopping has completely changed the game of luxury timepieces, as you must no longer pay full premiums. Trust me, shop around online and find out for yourself.

History
The Pasha de Cartier was developed in 1933, by the commission of the Pasha of Marrakech to design a watch he could wear while swimming. The Cartier Pasha model is one of the earliest truly water-resistant designs. And with its screwdown crown coverset, it’s also one of the most interesting to look at.
Importantly, the Pasha is one of the most famous Cartier watches not to be designed under the original family. This is a testament to the power of the Cartier brand, and its ability to stand the test of time. (Pun intended…)
